There is a growing body of research into the effect of menopause on the speaking voice. Several studies examine the singing voice, but none have studied truly elite singers.
This study seeks to discover strategies that peri-menopausal elite singers use to maintain vocal quality and range. Hormone replacement therapy or alternative treatment options are used by some, but voice problems are rarely discussed in public as any hint of vocal distress can affect a career.
